dj landry: you should re-read wireless' post again.
There is nothing in his post related to virtualdj or a possible memory leak. It's just a general discussion about memory leaks, nothing to do with virtualdj.

There is no memory leak in virtualdj, at least none we've ever heard about.

Beam me up Mr Scott.....The post explains what is happening when a memory leak occurs.Right?
Well this is what happens to me at work (logged oct 16 04)
So i begin,9pm open computer load vdj ram usage 280mb
10 pm im at 360,11pm 470 midnight 540...so i shut down vdj and just start over so its no big deal i have come to adapt
to this..
Try this ex: Have 7min file in deck one and 5min one in the other now load a 4min file in deck one.It does not release the complete difference between to two files. This small amount keeps accumulating gradually.
im not sure if i explained myself clearly
Ive been DJingt all my life and i think this is the best way to work,VDJ is .........well you know its like a gift from the dj gods....The gentlemen who started this is a GENIUS
Regards
Andre

I did some experiments with max load. I set it to 'NONE'
and the CPU utilization went to 100% and stayed at 100%. put the players on auto play and went to sleep, ran the test overnight, woke up and it was still running. 100% CPU utilization the whole time but still playing. didn't crash.

memory usage is related to max load and this could be what causes the problems I have with VDJ.

http://www.virtualdj.com/forum/display.html?topic=7697

Maybe the program could sense how much memory is available and recommend the correct amount of max load?

I've been using VDJ for some months on my new laptop. (check my profile) I haven't had any problem, not even a glitch! i've used it on 5 up to 8 hour gigs without rebooting. It's true about the 100% cpu load while loading a song, but it drops down to about 10% without causing any glitch. It has 512mb onboard, i have set maxload to 15 minutes (i don't play pre-mixed cd's at a live-set). Even having Norton anitvirus running in the background.

i know that it can be frustrating when your audio-performance is poor, but i have been unable to make VDJ crash or making it hick-up. So i really wonder is this issue is software related.

Apopsis, If it would be software related, why did your machine crash and mine didn't crash?

anyway, i read that the dev-team has fixed it in the next release. (thank you DEV-team *worship*)

The 100% cpu usage problem is CORRECTED in "load from disc" mode in version 2.06

THANK YOU VERY MUCH...

But the "skip and loop" problem remains for big files played
from disk.
What i mean :
Load a big file (something like a 60 min mix) from disk (not in memory).
Play it and click in the progress bar near to the end
(at 50 min for example). You'll hear "loop" (vdj freezes for a while).
NOTE: This is only for the first time you click there.
Is like vdj is buffering, if you click again everywhere between 0 min to 50 min there is no problem.

but, thanks anyway.

yes i noticed that the 100%cpu went away in load from disc,

but i have been using the "Load From Disc=none" because vdj is doing what you say.

so actually there are still two problems in version 1.09, be honest, it's true..

1. 100% cpu problem in Load from disc=none option
2. hickups with "Load From Disc=15min,Always" option using large files
