Thanks guys, when I saw one of the VDJ moderators had gone and looked at the site and didnt have anything to say I was more than a little geeked. I appreciate the feedback. T

Hmmm, did you forget the web address? I Can't find it!

sorry halo, it was in another thread. www.positivespinmusic.com

I think it is nice, simple and clean. It seems you like the wedding idea. My only comment is on the contact page the guy in front of the DJ system looks too casual for the rest of the site. Otherwise, good luck.

Thanks Doc it was an outside gig and cold to boot so yeah I was bundled up...lol

Here is my feedback.
1. I think you should consider picking colors that will work well together. I don't think the contrast of blue & yellow look good together. (but that just my opionion.
2. Look into a company called DJ Intelligence which provide tools that will enchance your website, such as music database, party planning, calendar, payment link.
3. Another company you can use is a company that is called makesparties.com. This is a party store in which you get 20% of the commission just for being a affiliate. They do all the work.
4. I also do many wedding and sweet sixteen. You may want to remove your picutes of the equiptment. No many people care about what equiptment you have except for us dj's. Client want to know that you are a professional and want to see what sets you apart from everyone else.

For now thats all I can think off.
hope this helps

I also do weddings. I disagree with most of the previous post. I think your colors work well, and it's nice that it doesn't look like every other DJ website out there. I think the yellow and blue do work well. I also think you should leave the equipment pictures in there. Some people have had the bad experience of hiring a DJ, and paying him/her well, and then see them show up with unpainted particle board "made in my garage" speakers, and using some old receivers as amplifiers, probably purchased at a pawn shop. Kids can get away with this at a high school, but not at a wedding. Most people getting married will have been through high school (LOL) and most will have been to college, and attended a lot of dances. The likelyhood of them having seen a bad DJ with a crap system is reasonably high, so there are going to be a number of people wanting to know that your system will look nice, and seeing some pictures of a nice neat setup is a GOOD THING. Seeing a picture of some nice pro looking gear on the table, is going to boost their confidence as well.

Okay, here is some constructive suggestions though.

On the equipment description, while the pictures are nice, don't get too specific. Just say, "We use professional grade equipment". That's enough really. Don't get name brand specific. You don't have to say Peavey or Numark or anything else. The pictures will reveal well enough that the speaker on stands, and equipment sitting on the table, can't be purchased at Walmart or the local home audio store.

Also, I would probably put the equipment and lighting information under "About us", rather in the music section.

If you don't have a mirror ball, I recommend getting one, and get it in a picture. It's inexpensive, and looks good. Get one no smaller than 12" inches.

This is a little bit of constructive critisism, so do not take offense. You are in the market of trying to get a lot of wedding events, from the look of your website. Depending on where you live, it might be better to keep a short hair cut. I think your hair is cool. One of my best friends who has his own band, and is also a electrical engineer, has long hair like yours, and it looks cool. However, there is prejudice in the world, and the long hair might turn off a snooty set of parents hiring a DJ for their daughter's wedding. It really depends a great deal on where you live. If much of the male population has long hair where you live, probably not a big deal. It also depends on your perspective. Long hair takes a hell of a long time to grow, so once it's gone, well, you know it's going to be a while...LOL. If your keeping pretty busy with gigs, and you are not seeing it as a significant problem, then don't worry about it.

I was just giving my advice. doesnt mean that everyone has to agree with it. In regards to the pictures, I agree if you are going to leave the pictures in then do get into to much details on name brands and models of the equiptment. Just showing and stating that you use professional equiptment will be enough.
At no point did I mean to offend anyone by my previous post.

No offence taken Angel, I do not have a mirror ball. one of our light is called a StarBall (three hundred watt bulbs it has a great throw but, I digress) it has the same effect and only one fixture is needed. Not Two lights, a motor, and a stand. I like to set my stuff up on the floor and shoot it up. Around here a lot of halls are telling Brides and Grooms "You do not need lights and big stands, they look takcey" so this has been my alternative. So far it has been well recieved. i appreciate all the input from you guys, my peers. That is why I asked for your input. Everyone sees life from a different angle. I love diversity!

@ Sleep. I have had my hair long and short several times in the last twenty years. I noticed I get more jobs when it is long. I like it long so it works out. I guess the best way to say it is this, I am so over the top proffesional, and so is my staff, that my hair becomes a non-issue. I often wear it in a pony-tail too.

Interesting point about hair cuts.

It's crossed my mind a few times when mines getting a bit long and mop-like!

I think as long as it's neat and you do a good job, I can't imagine anybody saying "The DJ was great, but I don't think we'll have him again because he had a certain hair cut".

Nice to know we all worry about the same stuff!

@andy I think it was Sheakspear who said " To Thyne own self be True"

"I think as long as it's neat and you do a good job, I can't imagine anybody saying "The DJ was great, but I don't think we'll have him again because he had a certain hair cut". "

Got news for ya, people do say that all the time, depends on where you live, I guess.
