Just downloaded a number of samples/loops. While several are decent they are damn quiet and get drowned out by the music at normal volumes. The sample volume tab is at its loudest point so I cant turn them up any more. Other samples come out at a decent volume.
Is there any way to edit these files to make them louder?

Try renameing them in *.mp3, than open them in any wave editor, increase the amplification and rename them back in *.vdj. It shouldn't delete other info.
