Topic: should I remove old version before install

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

just wondering if I should remove the 3.4 vdj program before I install the lastest version.
After having problems purchasing the program, I will go back and purchase again. It was never charged to my card.

I need a clean install.
Please advise.

wow...weird...

no u dont have to uninstall old version..but it is advised to install in a different directory..ie: c:/programs/vdj 4.2r1
 
thanks Boogie.... so let me make sure I have this because I've been using the program for a few weeks.

I want to remove old version, ( although not absolutely necessary) and then install new version in Programs file ? correct.

hey boogie... kinda hang in there with me just a bit longer... let me explain.
i got the latest version ... I installed it (before I got your last message) therefore I installed it in a different folder but actually i installed it in my C: drive... (not a folder) I then went to work with the software, I wanted another skin for simplicity , I use this program for karaoke and simple mixing.
I renamed the latest download and put it in the program folder , it showed up next to the earlier version. I then tried to pull a skin I had downloaded yet when I went to look for it ... all my skins are gone in config window, even the ones that came with the download.

I have a show, day after tomorrow and was just getting used to the old 3.4 version. I do wish it had a larger font size. HELP!

don't fix what isn't broken... but I wanted to be legit. Help me bring it back to working order if you can

Have i messed something up when i moved the folder to the program files folder after originally telling it to install in C:virtualdj. thanks
 
forgot to ask, should I simply, remove both vdj versions and reinstall.... I know I'm limited in my installed and had concerns when i installed the latest version. Just get me on the right path. thanks.
 
i just noticed when i went to look about removing the program for a fresh install... it only showed one Virtual DJ and it was 68mb .... the new complete install was only 38mb. Me thinks me has screwed up. I welcome your advice... This forum is one of the main reasons I got the software.

yea start over ( ihad to leave for a bit)

uninstall all..use the tool reinstall
 
thanks boogie, I removed both and then reinstalled. it seems to be working. I am going to try and figure out how to take the downloaded skin from my desktop and get it in my possible skins. thanks again. Michael the T-rex of dj's
 
If the dnld skin looks like a package (Red) just dbl click and it
will be put in skin folder. Also you can just sopy it to the skin
folder within VDJ.
Program files: vdj: skins
 
On the same subject, after finally getting the settings right for my Dell and working for a while now, I want to upgrade to VDJ 4r2. The other times I tried though, I created a new folder for it, thought that's where I installed it, but later found it overwrote my older version. Any ideas what I did wrong, it would like to have my old version still working just to be sure. Thanks guys!!
