Hey guys can anyone help. I tried using virtual dj at a party, but was unable to hook up. Do I need a specific instrument to get the sound off the computer through my mixer. Please let me know.

You need a sound card. Either on board, or a professional dual sound card. You will have to configure it in config. You will then come out of the sound card, with the appropriate cables, to your mixer.

The xp10's have there own sound cards. VDJ supports them, in the full version.
