i would like to know more about the history of VDJ
like what kind of people started the whole idea ?
which country ?
how many people(programmers ...) in the beginning ?
how many progammers do we have now ?
where are the HQs ?
do we have worldwide branches/offices ?
and also, how many registered user(pro level) do we have right now ?
just a rough/official number would be enough
sometimes i have discussions with users from other programs etc...
it would be nice to have more background details
thanx,
matt
p.s.: is numark involved in programming, too, or mainly marketing ?

Short history:
-Virtual DJ was originally a program made by others (its still on the internet, and very basic).
-This program was bought by a group of French computer students, going out of the same computer techology school in France.
-The founders of the new company, worked on the Virtual DJ software they bought, improving it lots, and it was released as Atomixmp3.
- Years later the work with the software was past that of what Atomixmp3 aimed to be, and was now a more proffesional solution, so it was released with a new name, taking back the original name Virtual DJ.
- The program has had the same developer all the time, but with a group of developers aiding in.
- The CEO of the company has been there since day one, and still is. Others have gone to new jobs, and new ones have come into the company.
- In 2005/2006 the US office was started to take care of the expanding business in America
- In 2006 Atomix Productions made plans to release the software with Numark, branded with Numark logos and Numark name.
- Numark also developet a range of controllers for the software
- In 2007 a crossplatform version will come, so that the program can be ran on both PCs and MACs
So its a French company, the founders are skilled computer programmers, with a passion for audio programming and djing.
How many people have bought VDJ is a bit of internal secret, so cant reveal that.
But its thousand by thousands...
There are several hounderd thousands registered at the forum, but not all have pro version, some have home version, some are still non licence users.
Numark is not directly involved in programming, but resells the software under different name, and they have their own plans and marketing goals.
Hope that helps ;)

And I stand a bit corrected...
There are indications that our CEO was involved with the original program as well, before it was Atomix. So seems like our CEO was around the developement all the time ;)
It was originally made by some school students from France :) Where our CEO was part of that student group :)
The original founders :
Our CEO is the guy in the middle :) Stephane Clavel. Our GodFather ...hehe

If anyone wants to go 6-7 years back in time, and try the pre-Atomix version of VDJ, where it all started, you can download the trial here:

For those who want to see how far VDJ has gone... From a simple mp3 mix program, to a full blown profesional software with sampler, timecode, video, midi and LOTS more ;)
