Topic: Minimum PC Specifications for VDJ with BCD2000

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I was able to install and configure VirtualDJ to work with my BCD2000. Everything works fine except for the fact that there are intermittent cracks and pops in the audio output and after around 30 minutes to 1 hour of playing, the cracks and pops get worse.

My PC Specifications are as follows:
MITAC 8500 MiNote Desknote
Intel P4 1.7Ghz (Note: Processor is not Centrino, but P4 for Desktop PC's)
256 MB DDR PC266
Windows XP Pro SP2

I am using the latest Direct X and BCD Drivers plus all Motherboard Drivers (VIA 4 in 1, etc.) have been installed. I did some tweaks on XP based on the instructions in this forum but still there are intermittent cracks and pops. Based on the Task Manager, Virtual DJ uses up to 94% of CPU, 50MB of RAM. The System Idle (don't know what this does) uses up to 60% of CPU but with minimal RAM.

If I add an additional 512MB of RAM (Total 768MB), will this solve my problem? Or do I have to upgrade to a faster CPU?

Will a fresh install of XP help?
