Topic: Whistle on decks

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi,
Does anyone know how I get rid of the whistle my decks produce?

I've got set up;

VDJ Pro v4.2r1
2x1210's with TCV (grounded to the DJ Console)
DJ Mk2 Console
Technics 1200 External Mixer

All works fine (thanks goes to SKYFXL) but the whistle is going to see me in a mental home, it drives me nuts!

I've tried the standard mute all stuff in the instructions to no avail.

Thanks
J

do you mean the noise the needle makes ?

is it comming out of your soundcard?

it comes from the needles

the way turntables work is via the needle running through the grooves , which im sure u know :)

the sideffect of this is around the needle you can hear the sound of the record playing , the timecode is a series of highpitched pulses of 1010101 , so what you are hearing is the noise it makes when it vibrates and there is not much that can be done about it as far as i know.

this is the same on all timecoded vinyl or any vinyl

hope that helps

different needles with also make a difference, as long the sound is not coming out of your output dont worry. Make sure you mute the input in the soundcard options.
