I'm trying to make the decision as if to weather I should purchase this software. As of right now I'm scared I
have downloaded the trial version and after about
20 minutes of playing the screen freezes and I must
stop the program using ctrl-alt-del. As a live DJ this
is absolutly not acceptable. Any suggestions.

i have absolutely no such problems...

can u tell us what your PC specs are?
The program needs ram etc

And what kinda files you are playing? long mp3's ?

ALSO - can u tell us your IRQ settings.. Does your soundcard share IRQ with graphic card or other card?

we will solve this ;) as the program works really smooth at my pc, no crashes ;) and I use it live at gigs :)

I am currently using a Sony Viao:

Pentium4 Processor with HT Technology at 3.2E GHz
Windows XP Home
512MB RAM
250GB hard drive
200GB External drive all mp3's

I typically play about 6 to 10m songs in length
I've currently use Automix for all my gigs with no problems
at all even on my 550Mhz laptop!

I looked into my IRQ settings my sound cards are using
diffferent settings 12 and 16 and they have and still work
fine....

Can you imagine playing a GIG with a packed dance
floor everybodies grooving - I got the nights salary in
my pocket and then all of a sudden the program freezes?!?
.......I think I'm gonna have nightmare's

Why they would make software that's such a Hog is beyond me. Whatever happened to compatibility and baseline testing?? I love to meet the people who QA'd this thing.

hi...

I can asure you that the team is for sure doing lots of baseline testing, and compability checking before its released :)

And also that the software runs great for most users - and that include me, I never have crash anymore! :)

now - every now and then, a user can encounter problem with any software - that most users dont. Even Windows runs good on most pc's, but some have problems never the less.

what you do in such cases is to ask for support, for example in this forum...

There have been issues with HT technology, as you have, and turning it off seems to be the solution as of now.

My new laptop has HT. No need to turn it off.
It runs great!
I've been using it for years without a single freeze, or crash. (4 nights every week) I don't even take a CD player out with me anymore (except to private parties). Just the laptop and the console. In the console is a mixer, and EQ and an amp.

If you have a problem, I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that there is a problem with the software, 10's of thousands of people are using it, with VERY few reported problems.

Insulting the developers, and the testers is not the best way to get some advice to help you to get trouble free opperation.
Please describe in detail what happened. Perhaps someone can offer you some advice.

I'm not insulting any one frankly just voicing an opinion - you
have not been using VDJ for years it was just release I have
been using Atomixmp3 for 2 years or so with no problems.
I've made allot of money while using the software. So its not like I have any thing against the Developers or the "time to market" pressures of todays software companies. If you do
a search for Hang/Freeze the amount of threads in the
"Technical Support Forum" is overwhelming. I'm a consumer
willing to spend the 114 with no problem(I'll make that back
in one gig). However, if I must have 1G of RAM to do so its
just not worth it. I must also point out there is no such thing
as "bug" free software. I could deal with a BPM not working
or something along those lines. I could even deal with some sort of pattern causing a crash. But for the software to just
freeze on a 2.4 Ghz system 512MB for no apparent reason.... somebody missed something. Thanks for the help I will check
out the HT link. However, for now I will keep my money in my
wallet and continue to use Atomix. It's a chance I'm just
not willing to take. I'm sorry if I offended any dev's but the
software's not there yet the minimum req's:

PIII 850 MhZ computer
800x600 SVGA video
DirectX compatible soundcard
128 MB RAM
20 MB free on the hard-drive

..............THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE- Let me know when
the patches are available

To my knowledge HT problem has been fixed since VDJ 1.07 version.

Which version did you test ?

Concerning the minimum requirements: I'm able to run VirtualDJ (with minimal settings) pretty well on a Celeron 600 mhz, 128mb ram, winxp, 800x600... So I think the minimum requirements shown on this website are very reasonable.

Of course I use my other computer when I can (Athlon XP 2100+ (@ 1.8GHz), 512MB RAM, WinXP) on which VDJ runs perfectly... But sometimes when I have nothing else than my laptop, I have to say it does get the job done well :)
