I've owned Virtual DJ for several years now.. I use a laptop and a backup laptop... from what I am reading the MK2 also is used with Virtual DJ.. is it used instead of a laptop? or is it software that goes on top of Virtual DJ ...

If i understand right what you are asking is your question like this: Is MK2 independent player?
Answer: no, MK2 is only midi controller that needs VDJ to play songs. It just controll VDJ. YOu can't use MK2 as backup like external cd-player.

yeah...
the mk2 console is basically an interface between you and the program...you use it to control the mixing instead of the keyboard..
while the console does not do away with the need for the keyboard, it makes the mixing MUCH easier...
i would highly recommend that you buy this piece of hardware and take your mixing to another level..
