Topic: Primary windows driver vs Audigy 2

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Bone headed question:

I am given the option of these two sound card drivers. I really can't notice a performance or sound difference, no matter what settings I choose. Am I missing something? Is one better than the other?

BTW Great performance at
Best quality 256 latency Safe mode off but overclock on
(seems to make no difference though on the overclock which setting I use - deffinetly better with safe mode off and lower video settings though)
Master Tempo Advanced 3,1

I Have a tower unit Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz with 1GB ram and an audigy 2 soundcard.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to the team. Bet you didn't know you could make a jaded DJ weep!
Great going guys!

primary windows driver means the soundcard set to be used by Windows.

So if that card is the Audigy, the performance will be EXACTLY the same ;)

ronny,

You can use now that soundcard in ASIO mode and in 48KHz with VDJ without any problem at all. That's a major improvement, you will notice the difference playing some MPEG-2 or VOB videos in 48KHz.

In other things, Audigy 2 ZS has a great sound, so it's difficult with audio only (mp3, acc, etc) hear the difference. But With Videos and in 48KHz, you can hear it.

Good Luck!

Thank you all for the great responses.

I just can't believe the sound difference.
