Topic: Recording live video while mixing

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Here's what I'm planning;

I might be changing Provinces soon (Alberta back to Ontario) and I want to put together a killer portfolio for either an agent or nightclub manager.

I have still photo's of a packed house and me Dj'ing and People having fun and dancing.

What I wanted to do was hook up a decent quality web cam and microphone to my comp and record a live video of me dj'ing to add to the presentation.

Anyone tryed this?
what were you results?
Any problems running a web cam program in the background and recording at the same time as sound is going out?

I'm gonna do a few dry runs at home just to make sure.

Any input would be good.

Web cam won't do the job in night club. It is low quality and need a lot of light to record good video. You will have to use standard digital camera connected to compurer by usb or firewire and record the video in uncompressed or dvd format. Of course you will need separate computer because it needs to write to HD all the time.

I did it once just like this and the result was great video which was 1 year on net.
