Topic: Duplicate entries in vdj database

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi, I'm writing a mp3 database manager for use in organizing my mp3's, but im confused as to why there are identical entries in the database? It seems to go against how i imagine vdj uses the db. Any ideas?

If you have files in more then one place, VDJ will display it as such. Say you have Earth, Wind, & Fire - September in your 70's folder, and also in your Disco folder. When you do a search, they both will show up. Maybe they are not the same file. One could be a remix. Or, they may be the same file. They are there because you put them there. If they are the same, delete one.

After looking at the database there are 2 files.
The xml file contains file information (BPMS, cue's etc...). This does not indicate the location of any files.
Then, there's the text file. That contains actual file locations and sizes.
So the logic i have is that the files are identified by filename and size, and the actual location of files is separated out.
So I dont udnerstand why there would be duplicates in the xml file
