i have this problem.i can mix and select a good playlist to keep party goers on the floor....but when it comes to scratching i'm all thumbs.i dont know how to select a beat or even how to scratch to a beat.i have read all the forums about scratching and even went to www.futureproducers.com,but still zilts.??help

look for some videos on the web. And the most important thing: practice!

scratching is all about playing with your crossfader.

to start... for example,

2 turntables, 1 mixer with 2 channels.

left turntable a sample vinyl (scratchplaatjuhh... :P), right turntable a bad assed beat.
cut off the bass on channel one and put the volume a little lower than channel 2,
pick a nice sample to scratch with (a sound or a vocal or something) make easy moves, as long as it doenst sound to horrible. and your crossfader is the most important thing actually when you have been practicing for a while, to cut one move in actually 3 sounds.

keep practicing and you will become better. and better.
