how do i create shortcuts for the three effects on each side?

go to shortcut settings, in Virtual DJ configuration.
You can make shortcuts for almost all features of Virtual DJ, very powerfull :)

DJ_Gauge
go into the keyboard shortcuts area of the settings in VDJ.
click add
press the key you want to use
then choose effects
then the effect selection
choose a value between 1 and 3
and which deck you want it on and if you want it momentary or not
