I played a gig using the below equipment;

AMD Athlon 2500XP+
1 GIG RAM
2 x 120Gb HD
Audigy 2 Soundblaster card
External Mixer
Mp3's encoded at 192kb/sec minimum using Razorlame.

I use the front and rear channels for left and right speakers on the sound card. When playing the tracks I can hear the volume dipping slightly and then returning to normal level... hard to explain....it's not mega-noticeable but I can tell it's not perfect! I think I've got all the right settings checked...thought it could be something to do with the gain????? maybe I've missed something. Can anyone help me out. I love the program, I just want it working correct on my setup. Cheers.

If you don't wanna disable the limiter just make sure the gain never goes over 0db and you will not here the dips.

Thanks a lot!
I'll try these.
What are the disadvantages of disabling the limiter?
Do I disable the gain in order not to let it go above 0.0?

Thanks again

No need to disable the auto gain. Just set the gain of the first track you load for the evening to -1 or so, and the rest of them will load at -1.
Personally I shut off the limiter, and set the gain to 0.0
But, that's just me.
