Topic: Atomix external sound cards

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I have atomix which I run on a IBM Thinkpad. I would like to run this through a mixer (so I can cue, listen to what is on the other deck while playing a deck) but only have one sound card. If I purchase an external sound card should I purchase two so each channel is equal? Would I have to disable the internal sound card? Will the atomix program automatically configure the sound?

If you have a 5.1 soundcard is all you need. You can configure any sound cards in your computer with AtomixMP3 or VirtualDJ.

You have a 5.1 sound card if you have 2 or more OUTPUTs in your sound card for speakers... If your manual saids you could connect front and rear speakers, then you have a 4.1 sound card which could be used with VDJ. If you have also a subwoofer and a central speaker you got a 5.1 soundcard. If you have another 2 speakers (middle left and right) you got a 7.1 soundcard.
