When someone listens to my mix, then they find it all really great. But when I tell them that I mixed it with my PC then they all say that I've cheated, etc.
All of those DJ's do it every time when I tell that I mix with my PC, even when I mix much better than them. I wanted to know if you guys have the same problem because it's getting really annoying to receive always comments.

Can only tell you of my experiance and one that happened just last Saturday Night when I did a wedding using Atomix.
It was for a young couple with a lot of young adults that attended.
As the night progressed they would come up on the stage were I was set up to request songs. When they saw the set up with Atomix and asked for a song and with-in 10 seconds of asking I could say, "yea, I have that one, or no I don't have that put on yet." They all said .... "man that's a neat set up, where did you find something like that?"
I then showed them some of the other features of Atomix and told they they could download a demo version when they got home to try out... they were all impressed.
This same senerio may not happen in a club where they are used to seeing someone with decks....but I must say it sure helped a lot the other night for an old foggie like myself to be cutting edge when it comes to providing music.
I have off and on been playing dances and started some 30 years ago using a single record player, (not deck and a speaker, of equipement that the radio station I worked for had.) Today it is like driving on the super highway. Just need to get me a flat screen or a laptop and I will be driving in real style.

I work 5 times a week in 4 local bars. After 9:00 it's a dance night. People make requests, I try to find a cool spot to mix them in. Whenever someone sees me typing in their request to search it out, and happen to glance over and see what I'm doing, they are flat out BLOWN AWAY! In 2 years of computer DJing now, I can't remember anyone ever being negative about the format... now and then someone will wander up and strike up a conversation and it turns out they are a DJ also, using mainly records. I'm sure to let them know that I spun records for years! And I don't miss carrying in crate after crate of 12" goods. I just tell them they are young, and that after a while if they are making their living spinning, they'll do whatever they can to keep up with the times. Clinging to antiquated technology is no way to earn a living. I don't care how nice your hand truck is. Even the die hard vinyl spinners are impressed by this set-up. If it sounds good, and you're slamming the mixes, most people just won't even notice, the few that do, are really impressed by what I'm doing, and how I'm doing it.

Hey folks,
LOVE Atomix, where I live it wouldn't be accepted by all.
Yes, sure those who don't know what goes on behind the scenes to make what they hear won't really care how it is done or notice even. They WILL find it interesting and cool - probably cos they can see that they could do that and make use of Atomix, even for home use as I do. But for those who are interested in the music and listen as intently as they can it's a different story!
I'm into my music, albeit mainly dance. The reason being I went clubbing - hardstyle - from age 17 to 23 up until new year 12 months ago when the NYE resolution to calm down kicked in......I now go about every 2mths. I know what real Dj's get up to behind from 2 to 6 decks cos I took great interest in watching - to see what they do......pure magic! My fave's(not necesaarily for skill) Jon Carter, Dj Shadow and John Kelly. These boys don't have cue points at the click of a button, they don't have fancy wee coments, no auto gain nor any searching all their records in what....30secs tops!
Not going to santer on but it's a different ball game! I can play both - BADLY! But the thing is, given one wish - I'd rather be able to play the turntables, cos Atomix will not bring you the same "respect" from people.People who know what work is involved to produce 2 - 3 hours of great music, and I for one would not get as much of a buzz!!!!!!
Each to their own, if you get dollars out of it then rock on!!!!!
Cue those who "ditched" their lovely 1210's because they've seen the light!
Later,
Liam.....Irish clubber
Atomix still rocks!!

Personally i agree with liamalone. Although technical mixing is the most automatically done by atomix (even my little brother could mix with it without a problem), the "feel & sound" is NOT done by atomix. Atomix is great for people having no turntables or the money to buy turntables and or vinyl, but have a great feeling for music. And that's why i respect Tiesto and all the others; mixing isn't the problem of that guys anymore - they just have to entertain people, and THAT is the most difficult part of being a DJ.
So much for my opinion,
Roderick

People are strange ... a good mix too me will always remain less important than the choice of the records ... I heard terrible DJs here in Florida recently but they were playing the music people liked and nobody cared.
As of the cheating business ... who cares, man you did a great job and that's all that matters. All the best,

I think the frustration is coming from the people who spent a lot of time learning mixing vinyl in the old days and now one can spend a week practicing with Atomix and produce quality mixing. I can understand if some people find it more fun spinning turntables, but it's kind of unwise to judge the result by the amount of effort one put into it. If (only IF) your PC mix sounds as good as conventional deck mix, you're the man, keep doing it and whoever thinks otherwise should probably walk instead of driving cause it's much harder to do with the same result.

LOL! I totally agree!

I forgot to mention that Atomix brings mixing to a higher level, since you can loop two songs and actually remix them live, which is phenomenal but requires alot of practice if you want it to be done well.
Hell of the cheap critics ... we rock that's all that matters and the others are just jealous.

where i live , all the people i played for and the dj's i know have respect for me , "even though" i use my pc...
I love ATOMIX !
to hell with all the critics...
A dj is made with a few things
- you have to know how to operate the installation
- you have to have a feeling for music
but most importantly, and this makes no difference if you use a pc or not :
YOU HAVE TO FEEL YOUR AUDIENCE ...
that's what seperates a dj from a wannabe !!!

Like one of the earlier posters I do parties rather than clubs and get the same reaction. I get a steady stream of people wanting to look at the laptop and mixer and see how it's done. They all think it is FAR more cool than using decks. Having used cds and vinyl in the past I also agree on how much easier it is from a "lugging gear around" point of view.
I can imagine that there are snobs out there that object to how "easy" it is mixing on the PC, but I echo what was said above - if doing it the hard way was the governing factor to life, we'd all be taking our laundry down to the river to wash it and would walk miles to draw water from the well. And the people I know that can't mix using "real" decks also can't mix using a PC - it's the frame of mind that is important.
Cheers,
Jack,

to me no matter which way you mix p.c or turntables ( i can do both). what counts is that you are happy doin it.. f#$k all the nay sayers that can only just put the needle on the record and stand back wait till its almost finished then quickly fade across... IF you can make whoever you are djing/cjing for enjoy it carry on
ATOMIX RULES so do technics 1210's

Seems like light years ago that I got acquainted with pc mixing!
Just wondering, do folk still 'turn their nose up' at dj's using software now instead of decks? Seems the norm now instead of the exception or am I wrong?
