Hip Hop, Rap and R&B are quite easy to mix. Where I am from, it's the staple music, although the culture is quite diverse.

70% of the music lovers are looking at artists in the genre that includes Mary J Blige, Alicia Keys, TLC, Ludacris, Da Brat, Lady May, Notorious B.I.G, Truth Hurts, Public Announcement, Aaliyah, and generally, singers in that category.

40% of these 70% are into R&B 80's oldies music, including artists such as Midnight Star, SOS Band, Michael Jackson, Alphaville, Noel, starpoint, Loose Ends, Kylie Minogue, Karyn White, Billy Ocean, Kashif, Alexander O'Neal and the like.

The remainig 30% are into local artists, and rock/grunch. The rock includes guys like Bon Jovi, Britney Spears, Alanis Morisette, Calling, Dishwalla, Hootie & The Blowfish, Wallflowes, Oasis, Matchbox 20, Red Hot Chillipeppers, and more.

10% of these 30% are into house and techno music, with artists including ATB, Darude, Sonique, Moby, Jamiroquai and more.

So, as you can see, it's a hard crowd to please. So, most of the clubs and pubs open theme nights, that define what genre is going to feature. The most common themes will feature Hip Hop and R&B, Oldies and Techno.

Hi, I very new at this and I've been playing around with atomix for a while. How exactly do you beatmix hip hop or rap. I can never get it to sound like a smooth transition. The automix doesnt work very well either

Yo, I can beatmix Hip-Hop & Rap real well, and I'm only 14. I know it sounds crazy but I got gigs all over town so listen up & I can help a little. Usually, when I mix Hip-Hop, between songs I like to use
the instrumental of the previous song to mix. It makes the mix smoother, that way you don't got 2 tracks with 2 different vocals on it, just one clean mix. I use the playlist as well, and when I load a song I load the instrumental along with it. I don't always use it but it may come in handy when your mind goes blank for a minute. When beatmixing it's hard to keep the tracks in sync but I got a trick. When a song gets a little out of sync, for instance, if it's too fast I simply right click on the pitch slider of that song to slow it down. If it's too fast you right click on the negative side to slow it down. Like if a song's BPM is 95 & it's out of sync you right click around 90 for a split second & the songs are back on track!
PEACE

I used to live in Miami and i learned some good mixing technics that i later use on parties. Well, i have to say that i'm a Hip-hop/rap Dj, i also Make my cd compilations and i DO create my own beats using another program. After i finished my beats i use Atomixmp3 to put the lyrics into the song. If yo wanna listen to my beats or want a mixed compilations with the best and newest rap/hip-hop music, holla at me.

ok..here's the scene..i luv mixing club n house music ...but when i need to transition to hip hop and r&B i always shrink back to the same ol songs...beatmix definetely ain't the way it works..as in club etc...the 4 beats screw the songs big time..n looping till i fade just sounds disgusting...NE solutions..oh yeah..btw i don't use headphones..just output speakers...also..NE idea how to use headphone thru atomix if i have only one sondcard?

Yo, I got a solution 4 u. You really can't beatmix hip hop with house or techno. I just don't work. I mix more hip hop then I do house but when there's a hot house song and I wanna play it I just use the Turntable Brake Effect to fade out of the hip hop song. I agree about the looping. They need to have more than 4 beat looping. It sucks, and about the Headphones.....You gotta have the full version.

..k..before i add anything more...I'm from India too...so hey wasup ananda...I'm from Bang-Galore!!>.heheh.....sorry..anyways...i tried the hip hop to house conversion..and a nice way to make it work is to listen to the initial beat carefully...just to make it easier..slowly bounce to the hip hop beats..then play the house song and set it to a 4 beat loop..most of em go very well..then keep the mouse on the "sync beat: buttin and gradually use a shotcut to crossfade..keep on hitting the sync beat...and as u bounce keep watching the house beat and at the end of evey 4 beat move the crossfader while hitting sync beat...and u'll find the the beats match up pretty well..it's a nice change to going on using the breakk....try it..tell me how it went...get your hands on a skin with the sync beat button..makes work lot easier...cheers...n tell me how it went

Sup yall? Man, Hip-Hop is one of the main things I mix. Thats what I started mixing with. I have moved into techno and all now, but I gotta love where it all began, Hip-Hop!

Heres what I do when mixing Hip-Hop. First, you gotta set up your Atomixmp3 to where you are comfortable. By this, I mean setting all the right cue's, effects, samples and start/stop buttons on your keyboard to where they are easy for you to hit. This will make it easier. Now, mixing Hip-Hop isn't really easy to mix, but before you play it in front of people, make sure you have the right BPM on each song. By this, I mean listen to each song and figure out the BPM. Remember, Atomixmp3 has an automatic BPM feature, but it dosn't always work well, so its safe to do it on your own. After that, you are pretty much set. Just have some confidene. Laters yall! Texas DJ's and anyone else holla! Sasweetguy@msn.com! Lates!
