Topic: What's a good soundcard(s) to get?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I have a ton of money to invest in a kick ass PC that I hope to take on the road with Atomix. I need a suggestion for what two soundcards would be good for Atomix.

I have 1 SB Live 1024 and it works very well with an external mixer.

The soud seems to be better with two sound cards?
Use pci 128 & sb live 1024.
But if you have enough money, buy a pro sound card!

Let me tell you like that :

You must have at least

500 MHz CPU
256 Mb Ram

to get a regular performance

for the sound card

you must have at least

Creative SB series "min: AWE64 , max: Audigy"

to get satisfied

I do well with 256 ram and a SB Live 5.1 3-d card.

My PC consists of: Celeron 433, 128meg Ram, onboard VGA, onboard sound (Deck 1), Crystal sound card(ISA type) (Deck2). Runs very smooth and quality is excellent. :) DJ J
