This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Has anybody else had a problem using Variable bit rate mp3s that the software will not see the correct time lenght of the song?

Yep, that's the drawback of using the Xaudio decoder. Lame is alot more stable and gives more accurate time information.

I have used LAME to encode these MP3s to variable bit rate and it still reads the time wrong. Is there anything that I can do to make Atomix MP3 read the correct length of time on the files?

re-encode them to a constant bit rate.

He meant LAME could read the correctly time length when playing back mp3 files. Then again, practically any mp3 player that doesnt use Xaudio can tell the time correctly for VBR files.

They can??
Winamp has had problems with VBR duration-times as well.. I know that with version 2.78 I could load a VBR-file and Winamp claimed it was 20 minutes or so but once I press play the total duration is changed, mostly shortened but it changes a lot while playing it...

Conclusion: VBR = trouble :o)
