Hi can anyone using DVS explain the difference between using a regular hot cue page and the ‘hot cue DVS’ page? I cant tell any difference?

Never heard of the "Hotcue DVS" page. Where did you see that? Is that an extension?

Yes in pad extensions

Perhaps the description of the extension to see what it does differently and/ot contact the developer?
I would suggest using the regular Hotcue pad page unless there is some thing specific about that pad page that makes the difference to you once you understand it.

It does this
has_cue 1 ? goto_cue 1 : set_cue 1
therefore if you are using dvs then holding the record and pressing the button will go to the cue but won't play

I still cant see the difference?- if im holding record and press a cue both jump to the cue (but as im holding record they wont play until i release record) when im playing around with it they both do exactly the same thing or am i missing something in preferences?

Depends on your hotcue mode.
VirtualDJ has two hotcue modes.
Play, and Stutter.
In Play mode, when you press a hotcue button, the deck starts playing regardless of it's previous status (if it was playing or not before you trigger the hotcue)
In Stutter mode, when you press a hotcue button the decks plays as long as you hold down the hotcue button but won't start the deck if it wasn't playing before. Therefore, if the deck was not playing before, the deck will go back to the hotcue position and stay stopped when you release the hotcue button.
The default mode in VirtualDJ has always been "play" mode.
The pad page you mention is actually a hybrid of both modes if you think about it.
It is a "copy" of the "Stutter" mode, but it won't actually stutter the sound.
In simple terms, it is designed to just JUMP to the hotcue and do nothing else. It won't stutter, nor it will start playback if the deck was not playing.
Effectively this means that when using DVS you can press the hotcue buttons to jump to the different hotcue points while the deck is stopped, WITHOUT starting the deck and thus without the need to hold the vinyl.
