So I’m using my Pioneer DJM 450 with control vinyl.
When I hit the thru button in VDJ and put on a real record the volume is absolutely too low for me to use. I have to crank the gain up to the MAX and even then the volume doesn’t match VDJs output.
Is there anyway to increase the “line in” volume with VDJ??
And YES, I know I can just move the switch over to the line level from USB and just not run the sound through VDJ at all but if I wanna record it won’t work at all.
The closet way I’ve found to get the volumes to almost match is to use LOUDMAX on the Line in but again this doesn’t seem ideal.
Any suggestions??

So I guess the solution is to NOT use VDJ to record since the line in is not at a useable level 👍🏾

So
Am I missing why the Line-Input is required?
- I'm pretty sure the DJM-450 has a dedicated Record Input/Output channel that records everything (including the analog inputs coming into each channel (not sure why a dedicated line-in is needed)
- the headroom level of the audio output by the mixer (in the Settings Utility application) has a default that's pretty low (I think it's -19dB on my DJM-S11). Setting it higher (like -5 dB) would make it louder.

Yes I know about the record input, and yes my level is set to -5 also.
My issue is the level being so low when using the Line in. I have a button mapped on my XP that just switches to line in. I guess i can just use the toogle on the mixer except that neither my RANE 70 or X1800 have this issue with such a low volume.

I guess I'm still trying to understand the line in requirement for recording
Given you are using the phono inputs for a deck to play the analog input, switching that should automatically toggle through mode and the preamp should be engaged for vinyl input, with the USB output level directly controlling the audio level for boosting. If you use Line in, that most likely disengages the preamp and it would be much lower as a result. Both should do the toggling for you though (from software DVS processing), so given you are doing a mapping to toggle through mode, this is most likely not the case you are using.
If you are using the Aux in, then I'm not sure of the expectation 100%. It most likely has no preamp on that input (most likely expected that you would be playing the vinyl through one of the deck inputs), so it would also be low due to the lack of the preamp boost.
If you have a turntable that has line output directly, then most likely it has a preamp on it and that would improve the scenario. Otherwise, without the required boost, there isn't much that VirtualDJ can do, outside of you cranking up the deck gain, or using a VST compressor with makeup gain, eq or otherwise to boost the input as required.
Also, let me know if I'm interpreting this completely wrong. If you got the time, maybe a video could help.
