Hi everyone, I have not done Windows in over a decade, I came across a killer deal on a gaming laptop.
Ryzen 9 6900HX
32GB RAM
Radeon 680M
Would this be enough for stems 2.0?
Second question, Does VDJ work with the new Surface Pros with Snapdragon X + and Elite processors

Guess the answer was no. The laptop in question is sold out. I would still like to know about snapdragon x support

Thanks but first question....
How do I know how a Radeon RX 5600 XT compares to a radeon 680M mobile GPU. According to Geekbench the 680M has slightly better performance than the Nvidia GTX 1050 but half the performance of a RX 5600.
So it is faster than one minimum spec, but slower than another minimum spec. It does not translate.
So it is not helpful, I was hoping someone with the video card could share real world experience.
Second question, you answered with a two month old thread? I am to assume VDJ had gotten no closer to supporting snapdragon is your answer. Thank you

You've answered your own question. You were asking about a Radeon graphics cards...Nvidia comparisions should not be on your radar for the specifications, just Radeon. It's easy enough to google the relative performance of AMD graphics cards...the 680M is a mobile integrated graphics solution that is much worst than the min recommended for realtime stems calculation 🤷🏾♂️.

I'm not an Atomix dev...all I have done is shared the last word on it.

Thanks What is the minimum mobile Radeon card and the minimum Nvidia cards then? I haven't found many laptops with either of the "minimum" cards listed?
On the Nvidia side I see RTX10, RTX16, RTX20, RTX30, RTX40 series GPU's, are any of the RTX good enough?
I found a GTX1070, but its a 3 year old refurbished laptop with a crap cpu.
On the Radeon side I can get...
AMD Radeon RX 560X
AMD Radeon Vega 6
AMD Radeon 780M
AMD Radeon 740M
AMD Radeon 680M
AMD Radeon 660M
AMD Radeon 540X
AMD Radeon Pro WX 2100
AMD Radeon RX 7700S
AMD Radeon RX 7600S
AMD Radeon RX 6800S
AMD Radeon RX 6800M
AMD Radeon RX 6700S
AMD Radeon RX 6700M
AMD Radeon RX 6550M
AMD Radeon RX 5500M
AMD Radeon HD 6550M
AMD Radeon R5 M335
AMD Radeon R9 M385X
AMD Radeon R7 M460
AMD Radeon R9 M275
AMD Radeon R9 M375
AMD Radeon 880M
AMD Radeon 890M
Are any of those "good enough" compared to a Radeon RX 5600 XT?
The naming conventions don't do much to help tell you what is better than what. Like I said it is 15 years since I last tried to buy a Windows laptop, because it is so over complicated.

Personally i do not recommend AMD at all for professional use and recommend investing in Intel and Nvdia for graphics cards. Yes, AMD is cheaper and yes fine for gaming at home, but remember the old adage about you get what you pay for. I've never had a good experience using any AMD products over the years and have seen MANY users with issues using AMD graphics cards and processors.
if you are dead set on not investing in something that has better results overall even if it does cost more then be prepared to deal with the headaches that go with it. you'll have to decide what you're willing to put up with and spend, but remember that once you spend it - that's pretty much it unless you purchase from some place with a decent product return window.

Pretty much one of the first pages returned by a search engine:
https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-680m.c3871
Check the relative positioning.
I'm personally not going to crap on AMD...I've heard good things from people who took the time to spec their AMD laptops accordingly.
The summary is that GPU is not recommended for realtime stems processing - it's really underpowered for the task. If you want to learn more about AMD graphics cards, peocessors, what to expect from them in terms of features and how they stack up against each other, visit AMD's website and perhaps read some wikipages/other supplementary documentation on them.

The Radeon RX 580 is at about 10x for stems, so that's probably the lower end to consider. The driver names also don't seem to differentiate between mobile versions, so the 580M might be slower than that.
The 6700M does 22x so that's plenty fast for real time use

@Adion unless OP made a typo, the card he asked about was the Radeon 680M, which isn't a RX gaming card, it's probably graphics integrated with the Ryzen CPU mentioned. Do the measurements you mentioned still apply?

For the integrated mobile gpu's I'm not sure, I think they have a generic driver name so I don't have specific stats.
A fairly old Ryzen 5 4650G desktop cpu I have here does around 4x I think, so newer integrated might actually not be too bad.

Second question, Does VDJ work with the new Surface Pros with Snapdragon X + and Elite processors[/quote]
I too have been looking at getting a Windows Surface Pro laptop (which all of them now have (7 Gen) the Snapdragon® X Elite processors). I checked with windows Co-Pilot and here's the response...
Does Virtual DJ software work on the Microsoft Surface Laptop with the Snapdragon® X Elite (12 Core) CPU?
Currently, Virtual DJ does not run natively on ARM-based processors like the Snapdragon X Elite CPU. However, there is some support through emulation, but performance may not be optimal for professional use2.
The developers have mentioned that native support for ARM processors is in the works, but there's no confirmed timeline for when it will be available.
