I'm sure there's an option to set the source folder when you want to use a photo slideshow as video, but I cannot find. Can anyone help?

There's a cog appears at the right when you cursor over the name in the dropdown. Click on that and it will open the FX settings.

find which Slideshow you're using - as video effect or audio only visualization - click gear (cogwheel) icon and menu will open on the right. select folder and go from there.
