Was the W10 downgrade a complete wipe and reinstall? Or did you do the windows downgrade?
You can try one more thing in creating a new user account on your laptop and try and run VDJ again.

Hello, I indeed did a complete wipe & reinstall, including a new user account.
Distortion still remains, I will try to roll back the NVIDIA drivers now. Thanks and I will keep you posted!

Since I downgraded (reinstalled in fact) Windows 10, the behavior is still bad (distortion, sluggish, ...), but something strange is happening: instead of my RTX GPU, the Intel GPU seems very busy according to the task manager, while the RTX GPU is not very busy. I tried all options (i.e. explicitely said VDJ should work with the RTX GPU in the Nvidia control panel and Windows display settings), but this is really strange...

You've experienced so many issues that others just don't seem to be facing, so actually wondering whether the laptop itself has developed a hardware fault now.
TBH you've pretty much exhausted every other option.
