My son purchased a used Hercules Mp3 e2, which did not come with the virtual DJ CD. Without the software I don't appear to be able to even check that the unit works. I have contacted Hercules tech support who can't assist . I can't work out how to contact Virtual DJ tech support. Has anyone got any ideas or advice on what I should do - I don't want to purchase any software until I know the thing actually works. A compatible trial version would be a good starter or even better if Virtual DJ can supply the origianl SW CD. TIA

Works with VirtualDJ for sure.
Did you install the drivers? And start the driver install before you connect the controller.

Setup guide: https://ts.hercules.com/download/sound/txt/DJ_Series_INSTALLATION_PC_EN.pdf
After that, it will/should be automatically detected and setup correctly in VirtualDJ
