hi there, I bought VDJ2020 with license for a Numark Party Mix controller. Coming from Traktor, I am getting very enthusiastic about VDJ and like to use my Traktor S2MKII with it. Can I switch the license from the party Mix to the Traktor S2? Or do I need to buy a new license for that controller? I won't be using the Party Mix again.

You need to get a new license for that. Since "controller license" is a specific controller.
Alternatively get the Pro version, free updates for life ;-) And works with any and all controllers
