Should the latency in VDJ match that of asio?

yes but I am trying to increase my latency in asio in sound setup because i keep getting distortion, will this not lower my latency the opposite to what i want?

"Ultra-latency ASIO – There are two ASIO engines available for VirtualDJ to provide better latency support. Checked is the original ASIO engine that is optimised for very low latency (renamed ultra-latency) and is still considered the default engine. Some computers have problems with this optimization. Unchecked is the NEW 'safer' performance level ASIO engine which has less optimization for environments that have difficulty with the Ultra-Latency engine."

what sound card or controller?
And mac or windows?

If its Windows, and for example Pioneer controller, better to use the Pioneer Utility program and set buffer (latency) there

Values that works for most is 256, or 512...
