When using wasapi mode on the sb3 controller..there is no other way that we can adjust the latency but by the vdj settings page under latency...and i have realized that the lowest possible latency that can be achieved is 2ms..i am assuming that this is so that to avoid issues that may arise using 1ms? Also...the next step up is at 6ms(reflected under the sound card options pane)...there is no middle ground between 2ms and 6ms(i have not tried higher ms values but it seems that wasapi latency can only be adjusted in increments of 4ms)..is this a windows issue or vdj made it this way???

To ensure efficient processing wasapi exclusive mode indeed uses buffer sizes that are typically multiples of a certain smallest buffer size.
The exact possible values will depend on the driver.
Is there any reason you need a buffer size smaller than 2 milliseconds?

Not in particular...just curious the way wasapi works...this all stems from the asio4all vs wasapi debate...personally..asio4all is my preference..at least for now..thanks for the clarity though

Note that ASIO4All pretty much uses the same underlying protocols, and just present those to applications as an ASIO driver.
Since it does not change the way data is transferred to the sound card, it has the same limitations.
Even if it can present itself to the application as if it supports any buffer size, it may not mean that an actual lower latency is achieved because of the underlying protocols.

Yes i get it that it is just a wrapper...but in my humble opinion..on my system..the performance is better..to all his own i guess!
On a side note..i think it may be helpful to many users for buffer latency settings to be set using a slider rather than manually inputting values..this slider can be placed in the sound config page...especially for users who are using wasapi mode...as most asio drivers have their own control panel(including asio4all)
