Topic: Mix Assist and BPM - Page: 1

Hello,

Maybe someone can help me with this, I have multiple songs all of them are at 128 BPM. When I run the Mix Assist for AutoMix, it changes the BPM of the songs to become way fast, so now the songs instead of 128 are now 134 and every song changes again and keeps going up. This is not fun of a new feature, but is there a way to only play / mix what BPM I have selected and not start changing them?

Maybe you could just turn that feature off if 128 bpm is all songs are the same. Just a thought.

Yea that would be great, I didn't see a way to turn it off as there are no options for the new Mix Assistant.

There are 2 places that have sync, The on under master in the deck click it and check or uncheck as needed.

You can upload the screenshot to imgur or even a OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox link will do. I'll try to test this out.

He doesn't need to do that - he's got a license, so he can upload directly to the forum.

Thanks for the screenies.

So the issue is still around, and there no real options for "Mix Assist". I've contacted support too about this and the only way to remove some of these mix assistant settings is to script them. But when asked about why does it change the tempo on imported songs that are 128 they had no answer. Even with auto match BPM turned to off, it still does it.

If you choose to use an automated mixing option rather than mix it yourself, then of course it will "decide" to mix the tracks together in the way it thinks is suitable. That can include adjusting the BPM.

Also, I cannot understand why (when you are already using AutoMix) you have then enabled Mix Assist on top of that. You have already given the software the job of mixing for you. You don't need to enable another automation feature at the same time.

That Means You must set up auto mix. There is a little Dot in the upper corner of auto mix to adjust the mix. Try it and play with the adjustments you'll be surprise what it can do. If You have not beat mapped your song please do so. It Will make Mixing a lot better for you.

So I use a lot of different tools depending on what I am doing. For example, with VDJ I am using this in conjunction with video screens, so it's important that I use VDJ for this reason. For normal mixing, I use Serato, and have no issues with mixing or EQ blending in Serato. Serato can't be used with video screens though that is easy enough for the video guys to work with. They know how to do it with VDJ but not in other programs. Others like DJ Pro can't do this either, so that is why I need this to work right.

Also I spin a lot of 138s and 140s and I find the crossfader gets in the way, I disable it but Auto Mix still uses it. How can I do a different transition like a Filter or Echo with Auto Mix.

So, you can mix fine yourself but then you want automix to mix for you ? You want mix assist tools to help you ?
Sorry I'm aksing, but I can't understand what you're trying to achieve here.

First of all mix assist is actually a set of functions designed to help you mix the tracks yourself.
Automix on the other had is a function designed for unattended playback/mixing

You can't really combine both ways (manual mixing and automated mixing) with good results. You should decide to use one way or another at any given time.

Finally: Automix uses volume based transitions (volume envelopes). You cannot change it to do other ways. Also depending on the mixing mode, Automix may or may not alter the original tempo of the tracks. By default if the playing song has a good solid beat and the upcoming song has also a good solid beat within a logical pitch range, automix WILL alter the tempo of the playing track and will try to beatmatch the songs. After transition is done the tempo of the new track should be it's original until time comes to mix the next song.

PS: You're also talking about "tracks that are 128 and VirtualDJ changes them"
Can you describe better what you mean by that ?
You see a track (that has been analyzed by VirtualDJ) saying 128 bpm on the browser and when you load it on a deck it changes to 130 without Auto-MatchBPM being enabled ?
Something else ?

Phantom:

I am using AutoMix for my YouTube channel where I will be mixing live for 24 hours as other YouTube channels do.

I need the mix to sound like I am doing the mix in the dance club. AutoMix in many cases doesn't cue things right or using the wrong transition effect when the transition from one song to another. Secondly, there will be a video with this for YouTube using VDJs Video Functionality.

I have a system at my place of business ready to go for live streaming and have about 3000 songs ready to go for mixing.

As for the auto BPM/Tempo increase, it does this. All songs are 128 BPM and have been checked in multiple programs. I don't know if this is a bug though.

Track 1 - 128 - No Issue
Track 2 - 128 - No Issue
Track 3 - 129
Track 4 - 131
Track 5 - 136
Track 6 - 139
Track 7 - 144
Track 8 - 150

if I were you, instead of throwing 3000 songs on automix I would create small "one hour" playlists that I would be able to fine-tune with automix editor.
Then I would use Event Scheduler to load a different playlist every hour.

The key phrase here is automix editor
