Hi, i saw the old topic and see that no one could get the benefit of this feature but i will tell you :D (all with virtual folders!)
I have sorted my dance tracks under "Dance" > "WarmUp" or "+130" or "Deep" and others like that. Now i want to find a compatible dance track i would like to show ALL file in my Dance subfolders at once when i click the "Dance" folder. When i need more specific tunes i use the subfolders. So i don´t have to put the files twice into these folders and i can be more specific the deeper i go. Others will be "Rock" > "Rock 70s" / "Rock 80s" and so on. So i can use subgenres folders to be more specific, but when i want only one compatible rock song i use the parent folder.
The only wish i have is an option to make the recurse switch permanent.
(hope it is understandable,)

That can be done with a rsi, query get_browsed_folder, a little variable logic to act only once when true then recurse_folder

You mean a filter folder? Virtual folders can´t be inside filter folders.

No I don't mean filterfolder, I mean a repeat_start script.
