Topic: Can tooltips parse vars?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Can tooltips parse vars?, I use pad labels but they aren't really clear, and the var_list is annoying, taking focus and needing esc or mouse to close.
If not would an external window do it?

<tooltip>`get_var 'MyVar'`</tooltip> should work
 
I tried that as a padpage pad tooltip but I just got text.
tooltip="`get_var 'r'` R" [also tried &apos;]
I'll try in the skin, pads would have been easier.
