I was testing out my backup laptop with a newly purchased DDJ-1000 and everything was working fine, until I plugged in my external hard drive.
As soon as VDJ recognized the drive, VDJ keep playing however the sound was no longer coming out of the DDJ-1000. When I restarted VDJ loaded a track and hit play, VDJ just stuttered and didn't actually play the track. When I restarted the Mac and DDJ-1000, everything was fine again. I do not have this same issue when using my main gig PC (Asus ROG).
Has anyone seen this or is able to reproduce?
Specs:
Macbook Pro i7 3.1GHz
16GB RAM
OS 10.11.6
VDJ build 4756

That sounds like what happens when the laptop - and thereby VDJ - looses the connections to the soundcard inside a controller
So it could be an USB issue on the mac
Next time it happens try opening audio settings in vdj and simply click apply. That resets the connection, at may bring the audio back
