Topic: merging two databases

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I have some music in my laptop and some music on an external hardrive so I have the local database on my laptop and I have another database on my external hardrive that virtual dj created, I want to merge this two databases into one, because I want to move all the music from my laptop to my external hardrive,
I have created a lot of virtual dj folders and some playlists and I want them to appear on the hardrive even if I'm not using my laptop and I'm using someone elses laptop.

Thanks

You can use the File Operations->Move function from within VirtualDJ to move the files from the laptop to the external hard drive.
VirtualDJ will then automatically take care to make sure the databases remain correct.

Hola

Thaks for the recommendation, I just want to confirm or correct anything that I have missunderstood.
By doing this, all the database is going to automatically move to my external hardrive ?
and all my virtual folders, playlists and cues will remain intact and will show up even if I'm not using my laptop?

Thanks

Yes.

Playlists are by default stored in Documents\VirtualDJ\Playlists locally on the computer, so you may need to copy these manually to the hard drive after copying the music.
For Virtual Folders it depends where they are created. If they are in the root of the VirtualDJ browser, they will automatically be stored on the correct drive, so they will be stored entirely on the external drive after moving the songs.

well the virtual folders are stored in the
C:\Users\xxxxx\Documents\VirtualDJ\Folders

so if I move the music will they move also to the external hard drive?
or do I need to move manually the folders contained in \VirtualDJ\Folders
and how do I ensure that virtual dj recognize the new address
I want to comment that I will be using someone elses laptop for a while. I will be moving from one pc to another, that it's why it is so important to me to maintain the same virtual folder structure that I have.

Thanks a lot

Why don't you just go ahead and do it? Follow the information you've been given. If you have any questions afterwards then you can ask.

Take a backup of everything before you start.
