Topic: Upgrading MacBook - Clean up old files etc

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hey

I will be upgrading to a new MacBook pro in the coming weeks. Before I upgrade I want to clean out my old MacBook and get rid of old songs I don't use anymore so I can keep it as a backup and so that the process of transferring my old files to the new MacBook goes quicker.

I am using version 7.4 but I do plan on making the switch to 8.2. So what is the best way to get rid of old files? Should I simply delete files in "Finder" then clean and fix the database under "Settings" then "Browser"? Is there a better more efficient way? Note that there will be hundreds of songs that I will be getting rid off.

Thanks
