I've been looking through the manual and checking preference options on my VDJ8.2 and can't find the answer to a simple problem.
Is there a way to make VDJ search ONLY the Titles for a song?
As an example, if I search for "Unchained Melody" I of course find the Righteous Brothers track I'm looking for, but I have to scroll through a few dozen songs that popped up just because Lean Rimes decided to release an album called "Unchained Melody - The Early Years."
Same thing happens with (for instance) search for "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole. His daughter Natalie Cole released an Album called "Natalie Cole - Unforgettable With Love." Of course Nat is on that album in a duet with Natalie-- but I think you know what I'm saying.
Is there a way to tell VDJ Browser to search only in the Titles?
Clicking on the small dot to the right of the Search entry space gives me the option to search in various places, including "Album" -- But even when I "uncheck" the Album option-- I still get Album results.

I did RTFM.
In fact I looked at the very same page you have linked for me. Thank You.
It was this portion of that page that helped me "uncheck" the Album Category:
By default, VirtualDJ will search within the Artist, Title and filepath fields of the database, but more or different fields can be selected from Search Options to narrow or provide different search results. Clicking the Search Options menu to the right of the search bar will allow you to adjust the searchable fields.
But, like I said in my post-- when I uncheck the Album listing-- I STILL get the Album titles being searched.
Maybe I should have mentioned I'm doing this on a pair of MacBook Pro's. Both running BUILD 3994 (2017-11-15).
Maybe a "Mac" thing?

Do you have any other fields still checked besides title?

I have only three items checked:
Search all local files
Title
Artist
Again-- "Album" is unchecked (no check mark next to it) -- I even tried toggling it on and off a few times-- Check it-- search-- uncheck it-- search.
BUT I think I figured it out. Just changing the checked and unchecked options has no immediate effect on the title that has been entered by keyboarding it.
You have to delete the entry and re-type the entry. Then it works--\
Must be some sort of caché/memory thing -- I've been playing around with it and it works-- thanks for having me look at the other options checked angle!

Perfectly normal.
