Topic: Sampler pad organization messed up

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I have a problem. In the sampler, i moved a sample loop and it re arranged all my samples! They were in nice colums and now their just random all at the top!

With vdj 8 and my akai buttons all white....organization was the only way i remembered what samples were where.

How do i get them back into thr nice colums? I have a big gig tomorrow night (friday) and cant have them unorganized. Please help!

How exactly did you move it ?
Was any controller with Pads connected at that time ?
Is the Pads layout in Sampler in "automatic" ?

If you want to manually re-organize, you can open the SamplerBankName.xml from the /Sampler folder and manually edit the column and row values

Interesting djdad.

I normally change the view of the sampler from pad to sample with volume control then they can be dragged and dropped in the desired place. Often a vdj update will reorganize my samples..it can be a pain.

Why is this still a problem though?? I thought this was done away with long time ago.....

Keeping a backup of SamplerBankName.xml is becoming increasingly important.

Is it the view in the browser window where the music shows up? I tried this but it duplicates everything. I tried to delete the duplicates and it seems to choose which one to delete.

I was in the sampler list view in the VDJ browser window and I wanted to move a sample down one slot. I had the Akai Mini attached. 8 Banks (or columns) and in bank 1 I wanted to move sample (in pad 1) to the the bank 1 pad 9 position. Then it immediately re arranged them all to the top. Yes the settings are automatic as I use a mcx8000 as well. But last night I was using my comp and just the Akai mini.

here's the google drive link to see what happened.

YES! I now realize that and have backed up my ENTIRE VDJ Folder and will do this every week! If I had done that, I probably would not be in this last minute situation. I did however, manage to drag and duplicate my most used samples to get buy for tonight until I can figure out how to get them reorganized. Then save that VDJ file again as a back up.

Where you see the sampler pads can be changed to a different "file" type of view were they can be moved around. Use the sampler options above the pads to change the view.

I had to use my backup laptop tonight and the samples were in the wrong place on a important page however changing to file view and then just moving one sample..and then moving it back to its original position made all the samples on that page move to their correct positions !
