I've been wanting to do a stutter effect and beat juggles with samples so I was happy to see "Sampler_loop action accepts loop length and can be used while_pressed" added in build 3440 and figured I could create a stutter effect with different sample loop lengths. When I use this script "sampler_loop "current" 0.5 "play" while_pressed" it always applies the loop back to the beginning of the sample. Is there a way I can script it to actually apply the loop to the sample and not take it back to the beginning but apply the loop function to the sample at the part when the button is pressed and continue from that point once the button is released? Also is there a way to script so I can go to different parts of a sample when it's playing to simulate a beat juggle? Thank you in advance for any help on this.

I don't think sampler_loop can do that, maybe try put your sample on a deck...

something you can do that can lead to interesting results, record 30 seconds of silence, put that on a deck, give it a bpm something like your sample['s]
put a hotcue on the first beat grid point, go to the last grid point that makes sense [8, 16, 32 etc put a apoi there making the action "hot_cue 1", play this and make this deck master, if your samples are sync locked , looping [<1b] this silenced track can funk up your samples, try odd loops like 3/2 1/3 3/4 etc

Thank you for the response locodog. I might be thinking of the long way to do this but this is the only way I believe I'll be able to do what I'm wanting to do by adding it to a deck. Change the sampler pad view (it's always on pad view to use with an APC40) to list view, add the sample that has the focus to deck 4 (my default deck for samples) with "deck 4 cross_assign 'thru'" so the volume is heard no matter what side the crossfader is on (I have a 2 channel mixer) and since almost all the samples are video I'll have to use "is_video" and deck 4 "overvideo" so the video will be on top if it is a video, along with deck 4 play_sync_onbeat. The only thing I think that will give me trouble is being able to put focus on a sample with the APC40 in pad view without it playing until I can switch it to list view and do the rest of the stuff above. I'll probably use "holding 200ms ? sampler_select X & sampler X stop : sampler_pad X". I'm going to keep the APC40 to just trigger samples but will try to assign pads on a CMD DC-1 to do other stuff when the sample is loaded on deck 4. I will definitely try your suggestion of using apoi's and odd loop sizes.
