Topic: Where's the "101 start here" settings thread?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I'm having a number of minor issues with 2 different Windows laptops (windows 7 and 10), a Denon HC4500 controller/sound card and VDJ.

Before I go asking for someone to hold my hand, where can I find the basic setup guide? I need to know I'm using the right drivers for the Denon, ASIO, etc.

I'm not doing video. Audio only. I'm returning to VDJ after many years in the wilderness and just need to RTFM to get back on top of things.

Thanks!

Thanks!

As expected, everything is already up to date.

I could try playing with the Asio latency settings (mine has always been set at 11ms) but other than that, I don't know what else to try.

Audio sounds "broken" after the system has been running for a while. It does seem worse with one of my laptops (Windows 7) compared to the other (Windows 10).

The best way to describe the sound is like an old cassette tape that's slightly stretched or degraded, or like I'm running 96 or 128k bit rate MP3s. Distortion is not the right word.

I had this problem with VDJ many years ago before moving to RPM, but to be fair the problem came up with RPM as well.

Also, one laptop seems to dislike saving changes in VDJ's settings while playing. It freezes up and restarts the program, often losing changes.

Where do I start to pinpoint the problems?

Make sure the Denon sound card is not used as the default Playback (or Recording) audio device for Windows.
