Topic: thinking of buying new speakers

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I just got.the JBL prx715's. Did some research and asked many DJS. These were recommended by several trusted sources. I took them out for the first time Saturday. I was simply amazed at how they sounded. Loud, a ton of low end, and power to spare.
Oops first post here in a while. I may have overwritten someone else's post. If so, I am so sorry

Why are you considering 15" top cabs if you're going to be using 15" bins?

Hooking everything up so it's running 3 way, it's not really necessary (and even detrimental) to have a 15" driver as basically a midrange unit.

It would be better to couple the bins with 12" or 10" top cabs. It should give you a better midrange sound and also look nicer with smaller cabs over bigger bins.

Where in the uk are you? If near[ish] Leeds Manchester, I might be interested in in your old gear.

On the other hand, you may not need the subs sometime and can just bring the 2 way. Something to thing about.

Another point is, I thing you are downgrading going from Mackie to Atlo. Is there a particular reason you are looking at Alto?

Have you looked at any of the line array stuff? RCF has some nice units. Will pick this up later, time to go to work.

I think RCF would be a struggle with just £2000.

You might manage to put a dB Technologies system together for that though. A pair of Sub05D and a pair of Cromo 12s perhaps would be around £1500. Swap the Cromos with Opera 12s and you'd still be under £2000.
