I'm currently making the transition from using an external HD to internal storage on a new laptop. I've copied everything over in its original folder structure, initially it seemed to have gone well for most part, however quite a number of files seem to be showing a "first seen" date of 2017 (when in reality these files were added sometime within the last 5 years), non of my system dates are incorrect, any ideas what may have caused this? I'm having to go through manually to fix the "first seen" year in the tagging window, quite a tedious task.

Check the file paths of these files.
Perhaps you mistyped a folder name and the links on the database broke ?

Personally I think VDJ struggles when it comes to these large movements/readings, and this causes some malfunctions.
The files are spread far and wide in different genre folders, and it's only affecting a relatively small amount of them, although due to the fact I have a collection of around 12k files, it still makes for a big job to correct these errors.

It is not very likely that the first seen date would be set to a date in the future by vdj 8 itself.
Some other possibilities:
-Use of an external tool to edit the database
-Import of vdj 7 database that is somehow incorrect
-Manual editing of first seen date in tag editor
-Wrong computer date at the time the files were first seen
