I have a question regarding recording my session. Does VDJ record prior to the soundcard or after? I use Breakaway, for this project no controller and my output sounds great. I ask this because when I burn my mixes (wave files) to CD, the playback sounds like there's a "loudness" button selected. It's loud even at low volume. When listening in the car, I get tired of listening quickly. Any advice you guys can give me would be appreciated.

No one has an idea for me? Basically I want to record post Breakaway Audio.

Breakaway Audio is an Enhancer and most likely processes the audio in an unwanted way (some settings may be incorrect). The question is , why are you using this and not just record directly using VirtualDJ and the sound card used for Master Output ?? Or do i miss something ?

To be specific, mixing a dance song from the 1980's (ripped at 320) into current music sounds dramatically different. Using Breakway takes care of that.

Maybe because Breakaway is maximizing the older track to the same very limited dynamic range of current tracks?
You've not said how it sounds "dramatically different", so it's hard to be sure - but that'd be my guess.
FYI you could run a similar type of plug-in inside VDJ, eliminating the use of two separate programs.
I agree with djdad in that an "enhancer" should really not be necessary if your source recordings are good quality and your playback equipment is too.
DJs use tracks that have been commercially released and mastered by experts using top flight equipment and techniques. In other words, they're finished product. No further "enhancement" required.

Sweet Sensation - Hooked On You from 1988. You pick the format, 12" single, 320 mp3, wave, sounds thin. Low quality. Play this song through Breakaway and it sounds full, rich, like it was recorded within the past 10 years.
