For those times where I use my 1200's, I use a Korg Nanopad for my looping and FX. I've outgrown it and would like something a little better and easier that can be used with both V7 and V8...preferably supported and pre-mapped. Also, only one unit to control 2 decks, versus having to buy something that will only control one deck at a time. So my options are down to these:
- Reloop Neon: Not sure if it can control 2 decks at once
- Traktor Kontrol X1: Can this be used with V7 and V8?
- Pioneer DDJ-SP1
- Akai AFX
- Behringer CMD DV-1: Would probably have to buy 2 of them to control both decks but at $30 a piece, not a deal breaker
I have a Pioneer S9, which has everything I need all in one, but since it's not yet supported for V8, and definitely not for V7...then I'm looking for an external unit I can use with my American Audio 14MXR and old school Vestax PMC 05.

Hey Visionz,
take a look at the Launchpad mk2 from Novation, I don't know if it works with 7 but it's great with 8.1and even does 4 decks!
regards

Reloop Neon: To control 2 decks at the same time from the same layer you need to remap the device
Kontrol X1MK2 works natively on version 8. It's not supported on version 7
From your list I would pick a Neon or an SP1

What's your budget?
Akai MPD226 or MPD232 for example, if you want pads and knobs etc.

Hercules just put out a new pad controller, can't remember the name right now but I'm seriously thinking about replacing my DDJ SP1 with it.
Edit,
Found it!!

Sorry to resurrect this, but I just looked into VDJ Remote. I have a spare iPad 2 laying around, and I was wondering...could I just put VDJ Remote on it, and use it for my looping and effects controller while using turntables and VDJ on my PC?

Yup, you could actually create a custom skin if you wanted.

Perfect! Looks like I'm saving some money then! lol Appreciate all the help everyone!
Edit:
I can plug my iPad into the PC with a USB cable, and still control everything, even if there is no internet service, correct?

The remote runs over wifi and no internet connection is needed.

Wait...but if it runs over WiFi, I then WOULD need internet service, right? If that's the case, then I probably would need something else other than Remote. I'm guessing I would have to set up the iPad like a separate controller and do something in the hardware settings to show both the iPad and time code to control 2 decks in the software.

No, you just need to connect the laptop and iPad to the same router.
Or use your iPad as a hotspot and connect your laptop to the iPads hotspot.
Remote will not use midi over USB so wifi is really the only way, although you can plug your iPad into your laptop so it stays charged.

Connecting two devices directly like this is called an "ad hoc" or "peer to peer" (P2P) connection.
