Makes a few valid points for discussion.

As for VirtualDJ… after launching VDJ8 and proving that quality DVS isn’t just in the realms of the big two, things have gone quiet. There have been changes at the top, but outside of that progress seems slow. I’m sure that there are more conversations about market positioning than which bell or whistle to add in next at VDJ HQ right now.

All I have to say is thank god for Pioneer, not many products release by anyone else and those that are and just budget junk for the most part. Nice to see hardware/software integration by the same company, my life has been simplified by Apple, maybe my DJing will be simplified by Pioneer!

The danger is that people are buying controllers supplied with and locked to Serato and now Rekordbox.
Quite a few recent Pioneer controllers and of course the MCX8000 aren't supported by VDJ. The longer it takes for these units to be supported means there's a chance many may use the supplied software and never return to VDJ. That may be part of the reason the forum is dead as many may have moved on already. Although both the Serato and Recordbox database management and GUI are poor, the effects are so much better and that seems to be more important to many DJs. Video also pulled a lot of users but both that and Karaoke seem to be dying. Again (I sound like a stuck record) Atomix have taken far too long to get the karaoke side up to scratch and despite many promises it's still not there.
Personally I would rather buy the controller to match the software (hence the reason I got a new spare MC6000Mk1) but I'm probably in the minority.
It's an interesting dilemma for Serato and Atomix. Who knows what's happening upstairs but as the article says it doesn't seem to be much at the moment.

the sad truth is no matter how bad the file management is in these other programs its not going to matter because so many like to make playlists in iTunes. Personally i don't understand it... most of my playlist are tracks i want to play not the tracks i will play let alone the order they will be in. I can see how wedding and event DJs could utilize playlists when they have a order they must follow but the club and party DJs i can't see or understand why they would be doing that but i bet they are all the same. Every DJ program out there supports iTunes these days .. so if the rest functions ok and they are not into special stuff .. scripts, skins, and the like then they will move on if there is a controller they must have lol. I believe the core of VDJ will remain though there is so much to like and i am sure so much more to come ... hopefully some in the next update when ever that is???

Well the last update was 17th February so you could assume the next update will be a big one. But of course never assume .....

VDJ still DOESNT HAVE POST FADE FX's!!!
They basically chased away Don and his plugins, countless great video fx's were never brought over to version 8 and the list goes on!!
VDJ has gotten better but we still lack in the end.
I could care less about the controllers because we can shoe them in.
VDJ has brought some innovations but we seem to have given up on the basics.......
