Topic: Problem with p4 2.8Ghz 800

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

I got a problem with virtualdj trial version, the explorer hangs and you have to close it and then restart it. I think the problem is with the processor because the problem occurs when i put a P4 2.8Ghz 800FSB with 2 512mb DDR 400Mhz.
If i put a 1.7ghz celeron processor (keeping the existing ram) it does not make the problem. Is there anything I missed out? is there a problem with virtualdj with an 800bus processor?

It's not the system bus that is causing the problem, it is your P4's Hyperthreading ability. VDJ doesn't quite like it too much. Do a search in the forums, several other people had the same problems (or similar) The suggested remedy as been to turn H.T. off. Since I have an AMD processor, I am not sure if it is done in the BIOS or within the O.S to turn that feature off in Intel chips.
