Topic: Cant search my folders from 8.1

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Can anyone help..
I have downloaded 8.1... I can see my playlists etc.
When I highlight my music and search for a particular song the search cannot find it even though it is there!! I can click into the folder and select the song.
I still have VDJ V7 pro on my laptop (just in case) as well as the new 8.1. Would this be affecting it??

Cheers
Aidan

No it shouldn't be affecting anything. Did you add new songs on 7 ? I'll explain you the way the database works. Lets say you install vdj8.1 fir the first time today. The database will update up until today. Anything you add after today on v7 will not be visible in v8 unless you do a scan and add it to yoyr database. There is howerever a cool way around all that in case this is the case. V8 creates a virtual dj folder right outside your music folders. If you delete that folder and go to open v8 again it will do a freshly update from v7. I've done that and confirmed that it WILL WORK. Now if that's not the case, mesning that you didn't add a new song, then type "e" on the search bar in v8, select all tracks with CTRL+A and remove from db, then type "a", or "-" or "1" or "o" and remove those files from db as well. Now go back to the folders where your music files are and right click in v8 and select "add to db". After doing that, the next time you have an issueleft click on the bottom of v8 " auto remove db files not found" (sth like that).
