Topic: Cross fader issue (Pioneer XDJ R1 and VDJ)

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Hi All.

I'm having an issue with the cross fader when using my Pioneer XDJ R1 controller running VDJ, when I first start the software, the cross fader is in the middle on screen. When it is set this way, I can play the right and left decks, but the right channel never goes silent, even when the cross fader is all the way over to the left. I've found that if I move the cross fader on the screen to the left and leave it there, the controller responds as it should (cross fader to the left, plays left deck) (middle plays both) (to the right plays right deck). I thought the issues was solved, but then I came to record a mix in VDJ and it only recorded the left channel. Can anyone help me with this issue?

It depends on which mode the XDJ-R1 is set to.

If its set to PC mode (software mixer), then record should work fine without any further actions or settings.
If its set to Hardware mixer mode, then for recording you will need to follow this... http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/Recording%20your%20set%20or%20broadcasting%20when%20using%20an%20external%20DJ%20mixer.html

Note also that depending on the selected mixer mode, you will need to use/apply a different audio configuration. Depending on the software version that you are using (e.g. Limited edition), the PC (software mixer) mode may not be available.
