Topic: Anyone ever done a fashion show?

This topic is old and might contain outdated or incorrect information.

Got booked last night to do a prom fashion show for a few local retailers in February. It'll be about 2 hours long with a runway and about 40-45 people (male & female) showing off this seasons newest prom dresses and suits/tuxes. They are expecting about 200 people. I'll probably play lots of Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, Selena Gomez, Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande, etc. Teeny Bop Top 40 type of stuff since I think it'll be mostly parents and high school kids in attendance.

Nice! I'm just starting out and got booked to dj a modeling troupes upcoming fashion show. My audience is some of my classmate (college students) and I'm quite nervous, lol. well I added some rihanna since her music is pretty upbeat for this type of event.

Ask if they gonna have a catwalk... If they do then you'll need to play music around 120-125 BPM during the catwalk show itself...

Yeah....they will have a runway (catwalk) so I'll be playing a lot of stuff in the upper BPM's but not too many remixes since I think they want to keep the music as original as possible. Not to mention....lots of clean radio edit versions. lol

Be prepared to play requests. Content Unlimited would help, but have a way to play someone's media if presented.
Also, a wireless mic or two.

I've done quite a few in my time, but at wedding exhibitions with professional models, so here's my advice/experience;
1. Always expect the unexpected
2. The choreos are usually already planned, so make sure that you ask for the music beforehand
3. Be there early, so that they can do a rehersal/practice run
4. Just keep smiling and have a song in a deck ready to play at all times

It's good fun, but doesn't have a lot to do with DJ'g, and the Pro models are a PITA.
good luck

Not too different from the weddings I do, so I'll be fully prepared and ready to go.
