Where does VDJ get them from? Are they copyrighted or free to use on another project i,m doing?

Google, Rhapsody, iTunes etc.
They are so low resolution they are not worth using TBH.

Resolution is not low always. Not aware if VirtualDJ prefers a low resolution cover over a high one, in case it finds more than 1 choice, but you have the ability to change that (using Tag Editor) and select a high resolution one (i ve seen some with higher than 1000x1000 too).

In my experience VDJ will more then likely use the first one it sees which is usually iTunes and those are only 100x100, pretty low quality.........
Maybe we could get an option to have VDJ select only covers with a resolution of whatever we choose??

This was talked about previously, but there was some reason for VDJ using low res images.
You can add your own high res image but the ones VDJ finds are always 150x150 or something like that.

Is there any real need for anything bigger that uses more resources that are best for music?

I prefer to get my own images from Google (500x500 minimum) and use MP3tag to embed them. They are then part of the MP3 file (not held in VDJ cache) then display correctly on phone, tablet PC etc.
